Where would I go to find CMDA protection of Rack Storage less than 12-ft?
In this particular case, I'm looking at Class III commodities on wire racks in a 2,000 sqft room with 8-ft ceilings. This is paper file storage. In the past, I have been able to use the miscellaneous storage requirements, but not this time. Sent in anonymously for discussion. Click Title to View | Submit Your Question | Subscribe

This is effectively miscellaneous storage which is protected as OH 2. See 2016 NFPA 13 Table 13.2.1 - C-III Commodity <12-ft. Use the design curve noted in Figure 13.2.1.

A quick caveat to add to Jesse's answer is that there is a difference between "miscellaneous storage" and "low-piled storage", and while the two are basically identical for lower hazard commodities they have completely different requirements for plastics storage.

Agreed in the difference between low piled storage and miscellaneous storage.

I think people move to misc. storage too often.
