How do you determine the sprinkler temperature when placed within range of a mini-split HVAC unit?
Is there any reason to have sprinkler temperatures different from the "Unit Heater" detail we've known for a very long time? Sent in anonymously for discussion. Click Title to View | Submit Your Question | Subscribe

Always need to coordinate with the Mechanical Engineer and then follow-up with the actual product to be installed. Height of space will aide in determining the discharge temperature of the unit.

I agree with Alex in that Table 8.3.2.5 (a) has always seemed a bit conservative to me. I would certainly talk to the mech. engineer and try to sort out what temperature range you'll be dealing with.

I would argue its a horizontal diffuser not a unit heater. A unit heater is generally thought of to be a gas fired heater where the combustion products are vented to the exterior. The face of the unit heater especially in large garage or industrial settings can get up to 500° F. under normal operating conditions
