There's clear guidance for small bathrooms and closet sprinkler protection under NFPA 13D, 13R, and NFPA 13. Do laundry rooms have any similar provisions that would either omit sprinklers or require them in small laundry rooms?

Additionally, my office just had the discussion of whether the sprinklers had to be residential or if they could be quick response. We determined that either would be acceptable, but they would have to be intermediate temperature sprinklers either way.

In NYC, is a sprinkler system required for laundry rooms with ELECTRIC dryers?

Is there a minimum distance clearance required or recommended from the fire sprinkler and the top of a stacked washer dryer in small closet? What is the reason for the clearance needed. I heard that 4” is needed for the clearance rather than the standard 18” in a public area.
