A project that has evidence storage will have a new fire sprinkler system. The storage is anticipated to be solid back-to-back shelves no more than about 8 feet in height, but will hold crime evidence which could and will likely include firearms. What sprinkler design density is required for this area?

NFPA 13 lists cartoned ammunition, small arms and shotguns as Class IV commodities in annex material (NFPA 13-2016 Table A.5.6.3 and A.5.6.3.4).

If it's any help, UFC 3-600-01 lists armories as Ordinary Hazard (Appendix B-1.2, latest 2016 edition) where storage doesn't exceed 12 feet. UFC uses Ordinary Hazard as 0.20 gpm / 2,500 sqft for wet systems with ceiling heights up to 30 feet (Table 9-3).
