Does anyone have any insight to the sprinkler design criteria requirements you would use to protect a small volatile manufacturing facility?
The building is a standard pre-engineered metal building with z-purlins, is insulated, uses corrugated siding, etc. It stands 20-24 feet tall at the peak. Any help is appreciated. Sent in anonymously for discussion. Discuss This | Submit Your Question | Subscribe

What kind of volatiles or hazardous materials are we dealing with here? I can send you my email address if you send me some SDS sheets.

It's for thc products i believe. Not a grow facility though. Looks like Alcohol, Pentane, and Butane. Appreciate the input brother.

I would be interested in all information available as well as to Fire Protection Systems & Equipment, Peer reviews, etc; for CBD production labs/facilities, raw biomass to distilent (oil).

I'm a fan of water mist systems or hybrid systems in this type of environment. Many of the non-automatic systems are specifically investigated for flammable liquid protection. Some of the hybrid systems are N2 driven with water tanks so a separate pump is not required. Pipe sizing and atomizer positioning also work well with lighter weight construction that is common in these cases. Supplemental detection is needed for actuation. Not saying it's the perfect solution, but something else to consider.
