Does the "small room rule" apply to sidewall sprinklers?

No, unfortunately since it appears under the NFPA #13 section number for standard pendent and upright spray sprinklers, and does not appear in the following section for sidewalls, it is my belief that the "small room rule" (for spacing 9-ft. off a single wall, or for averaging the area of coverage for sprinklers within the room) cannot be applied to sidewall sprinklers.
