Are initiation devices (smoke detectors, manual pull stations, duct detectors) required to have individual labels on them showing the device address?

I do not believe there is a requirement to label initiating devices in UFC 3-600-01 or UFC 4-021-01 (MNS). I typically see this requirement come in from the project RFP or the local Fire Department Design Guide.

I have been labeling spot detectors, pull stations, modules for 20 years for USDOD - even though i have never found the requirements in UFC 3-600 or in UFGS 283576 or et. al. I have never battled the AHJ - and i dont know why not- as it can be time consuming on a BEQ, CDC or billeting project.. otherwise its chump change.

I just check the latest (unedited) 28 31 76... and nothing in section 2 or 3 - stating this requirment for additional labeling.
