Required Clearance for a Fire Hydrant?

I have a fire hydrant in a planter curb, and we will have some trash enclosures nearby.

What is the required minimum clearance for a trash enclosure wall from the hydrant itself?

NFPA 1 2018 Edition
18.5.7 Clear Space Around Hydrants.
18.5.7.1 A 36 in. (914 mm) clear space shall be maintained
around the circumference of fire hydrants except as otherwise
required or approved.
18.5.7.2 A clear space of not less than 60 in. (1524 mm) shall
be provided in front of each hydrant connection having a
diameter greater than 21∕2 in. (64 mm).

IFC/CFC 507.5.5
A 3 foot clearance shall be maintained around the circumference of the hydrant.

Measure from the face of the hydrant to the wall.

Note that IFC does not require the clearance in front of the connections.

NFPA 1 Fire Code 2018 Edition requirements for hydrant clearances are not required, unless specifically adopted as noted for the state of Florida and elsewhere.

The 3-foot rule around the circumference is applicable in jurisdictions adopting the IFC, which includes the pumper connections.

Many jurisdictions will add the requirements for section 18. 5.7.2 using Amendments as in the case for the state of Florida.
