Penetrate Exit Stair with Duct Under NFPA 101?

We have a high-rise building, with rated stair shafts. This project is under NFPA 101.

Under NFPA 101, Is is permissible to penetrate the wall of the stair enclosure (an exit enclosure) with duct that is not serving the staircase?

What we have done (at my current firm in NYC) is we provide a rated enclosure for the ductwork (2x gypsum boards back to back for the 2 hour enclosure) so that the ductwork is a "shaft" now and not within the staircase. You have have to make sure with the Architects the egress path clearances are not affected..

Is enclosing systems not serving the stairs in fire rated enclosure acceptable separation ?

Does not appear to be permissible.

7.1.3.2 Exits (10)

Penetrations into, and openings through, an exit enclosure
assembly shall be limited to the following:
(a) Door assemblies permitted by 7.1.3.2.1(9)
(b)*Electrical conduit serving the exit enclosure
(c) Required exit door openings
(d) Ductwork and equipment necessary for independent
stair pressurization
(e) Water or steam piping necessary for the heating or
cooling of the exit enclosure
(f) Sprinkler piping
(g) Standpipes
(h) Existing penetrations protected in accordance with
8.3.5
(i) Penetrations for fire alarm circuits, where the circuits
are installed in metal conduit and the penetrations
are protected in accordance with 8.3.5
