I agree, 90 containers.

10 gallons per sq ft. 10 gal/sqft * 500 sqft / 55 gallons per container

Also, NFPA 30 has been removed from the recommended reference material for 2019 PE test. I did a search of the Fire Protection Handbook, but did not find the specific answer to this question.

The IBC and IFC are code requirements by many states and AHJs.
The maximum allowable quantities, MAQ, determine the allowable amounts, not NFPA. NFPA may be referenced by specific sections of the codes and are used for installation requirements, like NFPA 72 and NFPA 13. If NFPA 101 is required for heathcare facilities by CMS the most conservative of NFPA or adopted codes is recommended to be used.

Will the exam have questions like this even though NFPA 30 was removed from the required references?

No, this was just me including this 2018 question incorrectly without vetting it first. I'll be sure to check all the others prior to posting.
