A retrofit project has very low floor-to-floor heights where we need to install floor control assemblies within the stairwells. Is there a minimum "head height" for the pipe that it needs to be installed above the floor if the pipe isn't against a wall?

Maintain minimum exit width and install in the corner between the arc and wall.

Under the International Building Code, a minimum of 80 inches (6'-8") above the floor is needed for anything that projects more than 4-inches into a circulation path. This would apply to overhead pipe or accessories.

Additionally, for NFPA 101 projects a minimum headroom of 6'-8" is required for projections into the means of egress (NFPA 101-2018 7.1.5.1). Ceilings must be higher.
