When sprinklers (recessed, pendant, or concealed) are installed in a ceiling, do the distances to heating ducts and steam piping listed in Table 126.96.36.199(a) of NFPA 13-13 still apply when those elements are above a ceiling?

Since you are installing sprinkler heads above a ceiling, you are already required to install intermediate temperature heads per NFPA 13 188.8.131.52 (5)

It sounds like the question is asking when a ceiling separates the ducts/pipes and sprinkler. In practice I haven't seen this separation distance enforced for ordinary temperature heads in/below an ACT. However, I don't think the standard reads that way.
