As long as the Isolation Valve is not between the FDC & where the FDC connects to the system piping.

It is allowed by 6.3.2, however those valves shall be located in heated area 5.2.3.5.1.

5.2.3.5.1 requires System Water Control Valves to be located in heated areas. Standpipe Isolation Valves on Dry Standpipe Systems are not required to be in heated areas as they do not have water on them during normal system set up. 5.2.3.5.1 is referring to Control Valves that have water on them (ie the water control valve that shuts off the water supply to the Dry Pipe Valve). That is how I interpret the code anyway. I would love to get others' thoughts on this issue.

Per NFPA 14, 2019 Edition Section 6.3.2: "Valves shall be provided on all standpipes, including manual dry standpipes and horizontal standpipes, to allow isolation of a standpipe without interrupting the supply to other standpipes from the same source of supply". They are also required to be supervised open per NFPA 14, 2019 Edition Section 6.3.7. System Water Control Valves (valves that have water on them during normal system set up) shall be located in a heated enclosure per NFPA 14, 2019 Edition Section 5.2.3.5.1, but standpipe isolation valves are not required to be in heated enclosures as they would not have water on them during normal system set up.
