Is a sprinkler ever not required in an electrical room? We typically provide sprinklers in all electrical rooms, but are being asked specifically if we can omit one on a project.

Sprinklers are required in Elec. based upon some conditions in NFPA 13 Clause No. 8.15.11.2

If electrical rooms do not meet the criteria for the installation of sprinklers as required in the IBC, Chapter 5, where in the code is the requirement for installing sprinklers in electrical equipment rooms?

Ask the AHJ. They and the insurance agency have the final decision.

The key is that ALL of the requirements are met that DIAA mentioned. Most electrical rooms become sudo storage rooms and would then have to be protected by sprinklers.
