Pushing the door open is not a “releasing operation”. A single knob is ok. As long as there isn’t a deadbolt, etc..

Turning the "knob" to unlatch a door is (1) motion ... pushing the door open is NOT an "additional release motion".

Yes, I agree, turning the knob is a one motion release action. This is no different than pushing down a lever or pushing a panic bar. In each example, you wil still have to push t he actual door...not included in "releasing" the actual latch.
