Does anyone else know of other one-piece stainless steel risers besides those made by AMES?
At my company we seem to be experiencing issues with some that are not made in America. Besides AMES, I'm not sure who else makes them. For the sprinkler installers out there, do you prefer installing these components rather than a traditional riser stub out from the ground into the building? Posted anonymously for discussion. We use Ames exclusively, unless the particular situation requires we build a stub out. I can think of only one occasion where we encountered an issue with an Ames IBR.

For in-building risers we list: Ames Fire and Waterworks Series IBR, or a Watts Series TR, or a Zurn Model WBR.

What are the "issues"? My guess is that you need Made in America for government projects.

As a fitter, an IBR is much easier. A traditional stub out generally requires making up at least 1 MJ gland where as, the IBR doesnt.

The IBR is pretested, so normally, as long as the gasket isn't compromised when connecting the supply, you should be good to go.
