The International Building Code requires identification of fire partitions, barriers, or fire walls with 3" letters identifying the wall itself.
I've seen (especially in hospitals) labels for each through-penetration with a UL Listing sticker right below each penetration. Is this a requirement by code, or just a hospital standard? Posted anonymously for discussion. Discuss This | Submit Your Question | Subscribe

Specification driven. 078400 The firestopping industry is lobbying hard for inclusion in the future codes. Windows, doors, door frames, dampers, walls are all required to be labeled...why not the penetrations? This is the weak link in the chain of passive fire protection.

Accidental penetratrations of firewalls are a serious problem. IT wire installers are the worst.
