How Much Flow/Pressure for Storz Hose Line?

From a firefighting perspective, I'm looking at determining how to calculate flow and pressure needs with hose lines.

How much water can flow through 6-inch Yellow Storz hose line? Is there a psi associated with it?

How much water can flow through 8-inch Yellow Storz hose line? Is there a psi associated with it?

Reach out to Storz (or any other hose MFG), they all have friction loss tables like the one below. Same goes for any nozzles based on spray type, angle, and distance.

As Dan mentioned, every manufacture will have a friction loss table.

On a high level: You can flow an incredible amount of water through a 6 inch line, let alone an 8 inch. With minimal pressure loss, I would say roughly 800-1,000 gallons for the 6 inch and upwards of 1,600 gpm for the 8 inch. With increased pressure, you can get more water out of the same diameter hose.

I spent 19 years as a career firefighter and taught fire service hydraulics. Its pretty easy to calc. but you do need the manufacturer friction loss tables for the hose, and a data sheet for the flowing appliance - nozzle, monitor, etc.

I would generally have the driver / operators use a friction loss rule of thumb in most cases for real world moving water.
