In a recent discussion on threaded fittings versus welded outlets I heard that there's hanger implications - where a hanger is required for every piece of sprinkler pipe.
I'm not a designer so I apologize if this is an awful question, but is a hanger required for every stick of fire sprinkler pipe? If there's short stubs to change direction on a branch line I would think the hanger spacing would be adequate, but I figured I'd ask the pros. Thanks in advance. Posted anonymously for discussion. You need at least one hanger by pipe piece, if you have a large pipe because you welded some pieces you need comply with the maximum hanger separation (15 ft or 10ft).

See NFPA 13 2013 9.2.3.2, more specifically 9.2.3.2.5 and A.9.2.3.2.5.

I'm a fitter of 25 years, in my experience, long runs of grooved pipe can create problems, that threaded pipe wont have.
