If the FDC feeds a standpipe system, then the fdc is part of the 5 hydrostatic test as per 6.3.2 (NFPA 25 2020 Edition). Which calls that out directly.

This is not just a requirement for standpipe systems. NFPA 25 requires the piping from the FDC to the check valve be hydrostatically tested every five years. Preferably in conjunction with the internal check valve inspection.

Is the basis of question trying to justify not testing this portion of the sprinkler or standpipe system?

As mentioned above, NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems is the likely used standard for this situation. Most major jurisdictions will default to this with minimal local amendments. I also recommend reviewing the local fire code for any other specific FDC requirements. Best practice would include grouping as many tests together for efficiency and cost, and it is likely that the local jurisdiction will work with you with this in mind depending on the circumstances.

If the piping on the other side of the FDC is plastic then 5 pressure test is not required, correct?
