In my experience I've seen a handful of methods in Revit to create life safety plans, and in general they're all developed by the teams I've worked with using a combination of "rooms" and "railings" to calculate occupant loads and travel distances.
Is there any third-party add-ins or software that others use that could possibly help streamline these efforts? Posted anonymously for discussion. Discuss This | Submit Your Question | Subscribe

I use the railing method for path of egress calculations. Although I changed it to a "Sprinkler" family so that the other disciplines in my office could hide it easier than if it remained a "Generic Model". For occupant load, I have the spaces use a calculated value from a table tied to an "Occupancy Group" parameter to divide into the space's area. The tough part is discussing the difference between Net and Gross area per person.
