BM: Problem 174 I also believe should not include Type V (000) per NFPA 101 Table 12.1.6. 1-story is not permitted for the given occupant load.

MF: Sorry I should have combined this with the previous email. For problem 174 when I look at the table Type V (000) construction 1 story non-sprinklered is only allowed for 300 or less people. If its sprinklered then 1story is allowed for less than 1000 people and 2 stories for less than 300 people. Am I looking at this wrong?

Agree with the comment, Type V(000) would not be permitted since the assembly occupant load is greater than 300.

I do think the question could be clarified. If the intent is that the original construction type is unknown (so we only know about the building materials, but not what it was permitted as), the question makes sense if you state that. If the original construction type is known, then the addition would also be considered the same construction type (although more robust construction materials are always permitted). Alternatively, a fire wall would allow for two different construction types here.
