The 2018 IBC, Section 1009.7 for Exterior Area for Assisted Rescue (EAAR) requires exterior walls within 10 feet to be rated 1-hour for exposure to fire from the inside.

As long as it is acceptable to the AHJ, you use the TYCO model WS, as long as the EAAR falls into:

Generally, yes as long as the AHJ accepts it. Another suitable alternative may be fire rated glass. That's porbably more expensive than window AS protection though

Anything bigger than 10x 10 in an exit stair or doors requires sprinkler protection. ( if stair is near unprotected walls)

The listing requirements for window sprinklers can be restrictive as far as architectural character. So certainly have a discussion with the architect as far as allowable size/stiles/mullions... for those reasons, fire rated glass maybe preferable. (Although the frames can be ugly too).

If the window falls within a required rated wall, then the window needs to be protected to the same acceptable level. The fact that you have an AOR is just extra information.
