Tamper Switch Available for 2½" Hose Valves?

Over the weekend, an owner had a flooding incident due to a broken hose valve cap (the hose outlet valve was apparently in an open/partially open position).

The owner is requesting retrofit of 2½" hose outlet connections on their standpipes with valve tamper switches.

Does anyone supply tamper switches for 2½" hose valves, or hose outlet valves with built-in tamper switches?

The safe signal plug in special purpose valve is designed to be used for non-rising stem gate valves and ball and angle valves.

Seems like it could work.

Flow switch not enough on the standpipe?

Croker has a tamper switch for their PRV/Hose valve that might do the trick.

In this scenario (where the valve is opened, but no flow until the valve cap is removed/failed), the flow switch on the standpipe indicates water discharge after the fact (flooded stairwell). The Owner wants to proactively supervise the hose valves.

Croker's valves look like a viable option. Thanks for the tip!

Supervisory switches are available for all valve types. However a "partially" opened valve would may not be opened enough to get a supervisory signal from the device.

Out here some jurisdictions and/or local fire departments are using Knox locking plugs to prevent situations like arson vandalism or broken caps from causing flood damage.

Fun fact you can get those Knox wrenches on eBay, probably much to the chagrin of Knox's marketing strategy.

Crocker 5800 ss tamper switch.
Water flow switches usually wont operate with a slow leak ( had that happen with a frozen pipe, dislodged the bulb, when it unfroze a mist sprayed out undetected)
If it’s water , detection, then some type of leak detector on the landings for puddle forming?
A motion detector may not be sensitive enough.

The manufacturer “ Hawl “ makes what is called a “ live cap”.
The way I understand it, the cap is sensitive to both water and rotation, with sensors that alarm with cap contact to water and if the cap is loosened.
Big sellers in Europe.

If you just want to monitor valve position, the product you may be looking for is a Safe Signal (Potter Industries) product PSP1 and PSP1A. Used to be a System Sensor (Honeywell) product PSP1 sold to Potter as part of the Honeywell breakup. Honeywell sold all their valve monitoring products. Allows the monitoring of non-rising stem valves.
