Where do you input the master PRV into HydraCalc?
I have a job that requires a PRV, as the system pressure exceeds 175psi. I ran a calc for the remote area and put in the city water and fire pump information. Where do I put the PRV info? It is a fixed PRV at 165 psi, Victaulic 867-42T-20. Some people say to run 2 calcs, and others advise just to input it on the pump curve. Just hoping to have the info input correctly, and no one I know has done one yet. Thank you! Sent in anonymously for discussion. Click Title to View | Submit Your Question | Subscribe

It's been a minute since I have been on that program but between the below link and a call to their support desk, you should be on your way quickly. They are a very responsive group!

For two calcs one could be a calc from the discharge flange of the PRV with supply a 165 PSI flat curve and second supply calc proving the 165 was available including any loss or minimum pressure differential requited for the PRV.

What I do is run a static calc ( pump churning thru it)

What you can do is run a calc to the PRV to get your flow and then a second calc from your remote area to the PRV being the source of 165psi and your GPM.

Master PRVor whatever is one point of failure and therefore not preferable in Fire Engineering. However,it is better to have pressure zoning within the building and consider every zone as separate, independent andexclusive fire risk areas to maintain within 175 psi as component maximumworking pressure allowed..
