Design Area Adjacent to Window Sprinklers?

What is the industry standard or method used for determining the design area size in order to do the hydraulic calculations for Window Sprinklers in terms of the "Adjacent Sprinklers?"

What is the definition of "Adjacent Sprinklers?"

In this case, I take adjacent to be the pendent sprinklers closest to the sprinkler protected glazing (this would include Window Sprinklers but may also include other means). Unless Room Design is being utilized, sprinklers on both sides of the glass could potentially be used.

The term adjacent shall apply to any sprinkler system protecting a space above, below, or next to the qualifying concealed space except where a barrier with a fire resistance rating at least equivalent to the water supply duration completely separates the concealed space from the sprinklered area.

Again in 19.4.1.2.2

The term adjacent shall apply to any sprinkler system protecting a space above, below, or next to the qualifying concealed space except where a barrier with a fire resistance rating at least equivalent to the water supply duration completely separates the concealed space from the sprinklered area.

For the adjacent sprinklers, is it qualified as:

A) as the same number of sprinklers in the remote area? (Calculated as flowing both the Window sprinklers and remote area sprinklers at the same time)

Or

B) just the sprinklers adjacent (1st sprinkler closest to the window sprinklers, regardless the number of sprinklers in the remote area)? (Calculated as flowing all Windows sprinklers and the closest sprinklers)

Adjacent sprinklers are those that are near the area of specialty protection, which one has to assume will be concurrently activated.

Directly next to the window.
In 1981, Philadelphia, there was a fire blazing, burning down “ old city “. We had installed the new sprinklers in “ the Gallery, which butted up against it.
I had installed a water curtain, closed sprinklers along a long window, about 20 sprinklers 6-0 on center, up against the old city buildings. ( city code at the time)
Radiant heat from the fire, set them off, and the windows didn’t even break. The sprinklers Stopped the fire, saved the day( night actually) and kept the fire from spreading. Adjacent sprinklers could and probably would activate in my opinion.

I didn’t mention but the sprinklers were on the inside of the gallery. Not exterior.

Used to be San Francisco would accept extra fire sprinklers on the inside of a window that was too close to the property line
as a way to justify.
If the room was sprinklered anyway,
this never made any sense.
