Does a sprinkled tenant space Group M with an occupant load of 51 and sprinklers separated by fire-rated walls from the rest of the mall need automatic fire detection?
I think a pull station or the flow switch to active the notification would be enough. The existing plans show detection in the main sales area, in the electrical room and where the power supply for the NAC is located. According to my analysis the only mandatory detector should be the one in the power supply room. Wouldn't you agree? Sent in anonymously for discussion. Per the IBC/IFC Fire Alarm manual systems are not required till the occupant load reaches 500. (907.2.7) If it's a small 'M' occupancy then this is adequate, but don't forget to check the local amendments. In CO we have several jurisdictions that require a manual system once the store exceeds 1,500 sf with the sprinkler system.

In this case the Mall has an Existing fire alarm system, When consulting the IBC should I have to take into account the building as a Whole or Can i just consider this local only since its separated by fire-rated walls
