With POTS lines going away very soon, I'm seeing many companies switch to a "POTS in a Box."
Do these meet the NFPA 72 code requirements? I can't find much information about these devices. One thing I am finding is that they do not appear to be UL-listed. At what point does NFPA 72 stop regulating the communication method? Sent in anonymously for discussion. Click Title to View | Submit Your Question | Subscribe

never heard it called that, assuming you mean something like a Napco Starlink or similar, they are very compliant.

Oh. I googled POTS in a box. Those do not look like they are compliant with 72.

I too just search for the "POTS in a box." Truthfully, it looks just like a radio-type system that as long as the communication path can be guaranteed (i.e., supervised) then it probably will meet the "intent" of NFPA 72.

I have perused the specification sheets for the DataRemote 90X2 Cellular Router/Dialer & 90X1 Router/Dialer.

Honestly wondering: why would you choose that over a UL listed for fire alarm cellular or radio communicator?
