NFPA 13, 2019 Edition, Section 8.6.22 states, "Premixed antifreeze solutions of propylene glycol shall be permitted to be used with ESFR sprinklers where the ESFR sprinklers are listed for such use in a specific application."
Are there any current ESFR Sprinklers listed for use with antifreeze? I am currently only finding obsolete sprinklers that were listed for such use. Sent in anonymously for discussion. Click Title to View | Submit Your Question | Subscribe

I don't know of any ESFR sprinklers that are listed for use with antifreeze. I'm guessing it's not worth getting the listing since antifreeze can only be used with very small systems (< 40 gallons) for storage.

Antifreeze is generally considered the last resort for any system, I'd look at dry systems (Quell by Tyco) or see if a dry pendant head can work.

The sprinkler itself may not state the information, but looking at the systems themselves, they have listed sprinklers noted.

This data sheet is from 2011, and upon searching Viking's website, I am not seeing this available anymore. Could you provide further information on where this was found?

You would be correct as to the current lack of available options.

The FM Approval Guide does not list any FM-approved ESFR sprinklers for antifreeze systems.
