Height of Standpipe Hose Connections?

What range of heights are allowed for standpipe hose connections above the landing in a stairwell?

Any advice as to arranging the hose connection (height, orientation, etc.)?

From NFPA 14, 2016 edition:

7.3.1.1 Hose connections and hose stations shall be unobstructed and shall be located not less than 3 ft (0.9 m) or more than 5 ft (1.5 m) above the floor.
7.3.1.1.1 This dimension shall be measured from the floor to the center of the hose valve.
7.3.1.2 The hose connection shall not be obstructed by any closed or open stairwell door(s) or other objects on the landing.

I generally see them aligned to an adjacent wall so the valve does not stick out in the egress path of the stair. I also sometimes see the valve outlet rotated slightly outward. A firefighter needs to be able to easily connect a hose to it.

There are also local AHJ requirements that should be vetted as well, some AHJ's want it at a specific elevation or have specific clearances when installed in a cabinet etc...

Using the Standards Wayne listed above are a great start, you should also consult the AHJ.

In all cases, be just practical.
They have to be found rapidly, and have to be used easily.
If they are too close to the ground, they might be blocked by some stuff on the ground located nearby. And you will have to bend to use them.
If they are too high, it will be difficult to manipulate and you don't want to use steps or a ladder to access to it.
The "not less than 3 ft (0.9 m) or more than 5 ft (1.5 m) above the floor" in the standard is just common sense.

If we install a double vertical fire hose cabinet with a DN 40 Fire Hose Rack Assembly in the upper compartment and a DN 65 Hose valve in the lower compartment, how should we comply with NFPA standards?
